Gavin is one of the partners of Optometry On Osmond, and since graduating in Optometry at the University of Melbourne in 1992 has gained experience in both private and hospital eye clinics. He holds a post-graduate Master’s degree in Optometry, and Fellowships of the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia, the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society. He is a member of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists, being one of only a handful in Australia to be admitted to full membership. He is endorsed by the Optometry Board of Australia to prescribe medicine for eye conditions.

In addition to providing expert care at Optometry On Osmond, he conducts a clinic in Ophthalmology Outpatients at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, which is dedicated to contact lens prescribing for complex cornea - corneal disease, eye injury and other rehabilitation. He has served the profession as a Director of the National Association for Optometrists (Optometry Australia) for over 10 years, following on from 20 years on the South Australian Board. He is a graduate of the Australian Insitute of Company Directors. Gavin is a member of the advisory committee for the University of Melbourne’s Doctor of Optometry post graduate course, which helps to guide the development of the curriculum for the next generation of Optometrists.

Gavin is a Director of Sight For All, a charity which delivers medical, surgical, nursing and optometric education in partner countries in South East Asia. He has been actively involved in designing and implementing training courses in Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Myanmar. Gavin combines work with another passion - travel - with trips to clinical conferences, trade fairs and teaching trips around the globe as often as he can, always bringing back new techniques, equipment and prescribing trends to enhance the eyecare of patients here in Norwood at Optometry On Osmond.

Gavin’s expertise is in adult primary eye care, eye disease management and complex contact lens prescribing.
