David O'Brien
BAppSc(Optom) CertOcTher

David is one of the partners of Optometry On Osmond, having graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 1998. Since then he has gained experience in complex cornea and contact lens prescribing in both private and hospital eye clinics. He has completed post-graduate education which leads to endorsement by the Optometry Board of Australia to prescribe medicine for eye conditions.

In addition to providing expert care at Optometry On Osmond, he conducts a clinic in Ophthalmology Outpatients at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. This clinic offers contact lens prescribing for babies, infants and children up to age 16 in situations where eye disease or injury limits the usefulness of spectacles.

David is also part of the rural / outback Eye Care Team which visits Aboriginal Communities in South Australia.

For some years David consulted on a sessional basis at the Royal Society for the Blind’s Low Vision Centre, providing rehabilitation services to patients with limited visual function.

David’s expertise is in adult primary eye care, eye disease management and complex contact lens prescribing.
